MindsEye: From hype to chaos... rebirth on the horizon?

What began as an ambitious proposal from former Rockstar developers quickly became one of the most controversial releases of 2025. After its release on June 10, the game quickly garnered attention, but it took even longer to stabilize.

Patch after patch: the rescue plan

In the weeks following launch, several urgent patches were released. First, Update 2 arrived on June 18, implemented simultaneously on all platforms, with performance improvements, camera tweaks, mini-game fixes, and general stability issues. Just a week later, Update 3 was released on PS5 and Xbox, with an immediate release on PC, with a promise to continue fine-tuning the experience.

Critical Crisis: Reviews, Returns… and Layoffs

During June, the studio faced its worst moment: the game was met with mostly negative reviews, considered one of the weakest releases of the year according to Metacritic and Steam. The reception was so poor that Sony allowed massive refunds, and Build A Rocket Boy was forced to initiate layoffs in the UK, affecting more than 100 employees.
